Our society tells us that we should not have to rely on anyone else for anything. In contrast, Jesus sent out the disciples in pairs, without extra provisions, dependent on the good will and hospitality of others.

As humans we are often forced to choose between our limited resources, but God is not limited by time or resources, so we can place our full trust in God’s provision.

While God’s essence of love never changes, God’s interactions with us may look different in different seasons of our lives.

King David’s last words remind us of the beauty that arises from striving for a world where justice reigns. We are called to embody peace and create a countercultural neighborhood of love.
