Paul didn’t have a million followers or Twitter, he didn’t have a national platform. He wasn’t even always well-known and respected in his field. But he did indeed stay true to his mission and calling. He put in the time, logged the hours, and stayed faithful to the tasks set before him. And so at the end of his life, he could indeed say with all truthfulness, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race…”

Many of us treat the Bible like a reference book – googling what the Bible has to say about certain topics, or searching for encouraging words or phrases to help us get through difficult times. But how should we read the Bible? And what should we do with all those troubling passages that we don’t like?

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved by him, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly explaining the word of truth” – 2 Timothy 2:15
